For years, there was a fairly clear line between developers and everyone else. Developers worked in code editors. The rest of us worked with low-code tools, configuration, and visual designers. That line is getting harder to see. In this session, I'll show how GitHub Copilot, VS Code, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers are changing what's possible for people who don't consider themselves professional developers. We'll start with what MCP actually is, why everyone suddenly seems to be talking about it, and how it allows AI tools like GitHub Copilot to connect to systems, data sources, and capabilities beyond the editor itself. Then we'll move from theory to practice. Using real examples, you'll see how I use VS Code and GitHub Copilot to build solutions, automate tasks, explore APIs, generate working code, and solve problems that previously would have required significantly deeper development skills. Along the way, we'll look at the MCP servers that make these scenarios possible and discuss where they add real value versus where they're mostly creating hype. This is a session about understanding how modern AI-assisted development is changing who can build solutions, what tools they're using, and why even non-developers may find themselves spending time in VS Code.
